Whether you're a football player, spectator, or collector of football sports cards, you may enjoy challenging yourself to see how well you know your facts about football teams.

Do you have an advantage the first year you run this? Sure you do, no one has seen anything like it, it can be like shooting fish in a barrel in year 1. But by the same token you are coaching it for the first time also. Just like your players, when coaching youth football, your biggest improvement as a coach will be in years 2 and 3. So the big "newness" advantage you have in year one is counterweighed in years 2-3 by the advantages you will have with the experience you gained in year 1. After you gt a year under your belt you will be able to run more football plays from the playbook too.

You need to now that professional bettors invest a lot of time and effort on this. If you are a beginner, you will need to know the facts on all the teams. You will need to read news about the teams - if there are recent player injuries, what game patterns these teams are known for, their overall team performance, etc. Being aware of any team's player lineup is important because you will base your picks on one of these factors. A team with a depleted lineup will have a hard time playing against a team that has a healthy lineup. Also, knowing both teams' game patterns will help you predict how they will fare against each other.

Most of the plays or schemes the typical youth coach has in his playbook are not designed to the talent level of most youth teams. I see teams with no speed often trying to run sweeps, I see teams with kids that can't throw or catch throwing (trying to throw) 20 yard passes. I see teams running bootlegs with very slow quarterbacks. I see teams running a dive play with no lead blocker into the heart of youth defenses. I see teams trying reverses against well disciplined teams for huge losses. I see pass patterns with 3-4 and even 5 receivers. I see teams trying to get a 9 year old to read two different defenders on option plays etc etc etc.

If you've coached multiple teams like I have or coached well past when your kids have played, the number of kids you will have affected will number in the hundreds. I started an inner-city program where we had upwards of 400 kids participating each year as well as a rural program that has about 75 kids. Ive personally head coached 17 football teams and 3 baseball teams. We will be expecting quite a crowd at mine, hopefully many moons from now.
